Fee Waivers

We have tried to keep the registration fees to a reasonable minimum for such a large event. The calculation is based on the assumption that most participants will pay the respective registration fees, in particular if they or their lab have funding for this. For students without any funding opportunities, we offer the following fee waivers and fellowships:

One student from Ukraine (fee waiver)

  • registration fee waiver
  • funded by Gesellschaft der Freunde und Förderer der Ruhr-Universität
  • Please apply via email, specifying the "GFuF Ukrainian fellowship", including:
    • name and affiliation (university and program)
    • a short motivation (max. 300 words) for attending ESSLLI
  • Application deadline: April 30, 2025

Four fee waivers for students in computational linguistics

  • registration fee waiver
  • jointly funded by GSCL / DGfS-CL
  • Only for students interested in computational linguistics who are members of these organizations! Membership is free for students, including PhD students.
  • Please apply via email, specifying "GSCL/DGfS-CL fellowship", including:
    • name and affiliation (university and program)
    • proof of matriculation and information about which of the two associations you are a member of or have just applied to become a member of
    • short CV with full contact info (postal address, email)
    • copy of ID that shows proof of place of residence
    • bank account number (for fee reimbursement)
    • a short motivation (max. 300 words) for attending ESSLLI
  • Application deadline for full consideration: April 30, 2025, then open until filled

Three fellowships (fee waiver + accommodation)

  • fee waiver + accommodation in a single hotel room (accommodation is booked directly by us! no direct payout)
  • funded by RUB-Stiftung
  • The fellowships are awarded competitively (based on excellence of the student and quality of the motivation letter) by the local organizing committtee after viewing all applications.
  • Please apply via email, specifying "RUB-Stiftung fellowship", including:
    • name and affiliation (university and program)
    • short CV
    • a short motivation (max. 300 words) for attending ESSLLI
    • current transcript of records
  • Application deadline: April 30, 2025
