How to get to Bochum

By train: If you choose to travel via public transport, you should aim to arrive at the Bochum central station (Bochum Hauptbahnhof), since most other sections of the city can be reached via this central hub. There are multiple options ranging from the Intercity Express to busses and other methods.

Flying: The closest international airport is the Düsseldorf International Airport (DUS). You can reach Bochum within 30-40 minutes via car or 40-50 minutes by train. You should be advised that this is only in the best-case scenario, and you should check travel times upon your arrival.

Take the Skytrain at Düsseldorf Airport to reach the train station and then you should take the RE1/RE6 going for Bochum central station (Bochum Hauptbahnhof).

Car: If you own or rent a car and plan to travel that way to Bochum, take the Autobahn A52 and switch to the A40. For the fastest route, please check with your appropriate travel apps, since the German Autobahn is prone to have construction sites pop up often and for certain sections to be blocked off completely.
