VENUE: "Kaffeebar" reception area on top of the Mensa (main cafeteria)

DESCRIPTION: Official opening of ESSLLI 2025 with a catered buffet and drinks, in the building of the main cafeteria at RUB. Finger food (vegan & vegetarian) and drinks provided (free of charge for registered ESSLLI participants).

DATE: Wednesday, July 30, from 7:30pm (leaving together from campus: 7pm)

VENUE: pub “Trinkhalle”, off-campus /  U-Bahn station Ruhr-Universität

Open to all women and nonbinary, inter, trans and genderqueer students. no proof or questions asked. Organized by AQFR (aqfr-rub.de)

The queerfeminist bar evening will be happening at Trinkhalle (Herner Str. 8, https://g.co/kgs/mRjmM7L ) from 7:30pm on this Wednesday. Some people are going there together from campus - meeting point 7pm at the U-Bahn station Ruhr-Universität.

VENUE: Open campus area in front of building GB

DESCRIPTION: End the first week of ESSLLI and ring in the weekend together at a casual open air dinner! Vegan and non-vegan "Currywurst", a local Ruhr area specialty, as well as other bbq style food and soft drinks will be provided for all ESSLLI participants. Enjoy the green campus area of RUB, pictured below, at this outdoor dinner.

VENUE: on campus (UFO building)

DESCRIPTION: Organized by the autonomous gay referate (schwulenreferat-bochum.de/), for all: lesbian, gay, bi, trans*, inter, queer, or friends of the community

The queer+allies caraoke evening is happening in the “UFO” (to the left, unlike everything else at ESSLLI when coming up from the U-Bahn station) on campus: very top in this map https://www.ruhr-uni-bochum.de/mam/universaal/images/campusplan_universaal.pdf

A group will go there together from the open-air dinner and meet in front of the building GA at 20:30 on Friday Aug. 1st. The GA entry is clearly visible as such from the area where the open air dinner is taking place and next to the main ESSLLI venue. The karaoke evenings usually go until 1am or so.

DESCRIPTION: Traditional football match lecturers (if they show up) vs. students. More info to come - bring your sneakers! ⚽ (Subject to availability of a field to play on)

DESCRIPTION: The official closing of ESSLLI 2025 will take place within the last Student Session on Friday, August 8. It includes the official announcement of the host university for ESSLLI 2026.
